We are a preceptor placement service for Graceland University nursing students, and everything we do is shaped by Graceland's own practicum rules. Our placement advisors find preceptors and practicum sites that fit Graceland's courses and prepare what Graceland's forms ask for, so students reach each practicum with the site settled.

Who we work for
Our students are working RNs enrolled in Graceland's online graduate programs: the MSN FNP, AGACNP and PMHNP tracks, the post-graduate certificates and the BSN-to-DNP. Many live in Missouri, Iowa and Kansas, within reach of Graceland's Independence and Lamoni campuses, and many more study from states across the country.
We work with clinicians, too. Nurse practitioners and physicians who are thinking about teaching a Graceland student come to us to understand what precepting involves, what Appendix B asks of them and how a practicum term runs from first day to final evaluation. Why one school
Graceland's practicum rules are detailed and particular. Appendix A goes in per term, site and address; Appendix B is renewed every term; an affiliation agreement is needed at every site where you give hands-on care; every student needs at least two different preceptors across three practicums; and each track has its own setting rules, from primary care only in the early FNP practicums to ICU hours for AGACNP students and psychiatric preceptors for every PMHNP practicum.
Working inside one school's process every day is how we get those details right. We read Graceland's current Graduate Student Handbook, catalog and School of Nursing pages closely, note where they disagree, and send students to the right Graceland office when a question is Graceland's to answer. How we work
Each student has a placement advisor who owns the search from the first message to the approval email. The work follows the order of Graceland's own process: course and deadline first, then a search screened against Graceland's rules, then the details for Appendix A and Appendix B, then follow-through until every approval email has arrived.
Three habits run through all of it. We start from the course, because a preceptor Graceland cannot approve helps nobody. We finish the file, because a complete Appendix A lets the contract coordinator start the affiliation agreement at once. And we plan ahead, second preceptor included, because Graceland's calendar favors students who move early. How it works shows each step.
How we treat preceptors
Preceptors make every practicum possible, and Graceland's handbook calls students guests at the site and asks them to be considerate of the preceptor's time. We take that to heart. Each request we make is specific: the course, the hours, the weekly schedule, the term dates and what Graceland will send, with Graceland's own Preceptor Information and Responsibilities sheet alongside.
We also brief preceptors on Appendix B and on Typhon, where they complete the midterm and final evaluations, so their part of the process asks as little of their day as possible. A clear, well-prepared request respects a clinician's time and makes saying yes an easier decision.
Where Graceland's decisions begin
Graceland University approves every preceptor and practicum site, sends every affiliation agreement, issues every approval email and grades every practicum. Our work sits on the student's side of that line: finding the right clinician, preparing complete information and keeping the timeline. When a question belongs to Graceland, such as whether your state is approved or how the hours in your catalog year add up, we point you to the office that can answer it, from the contract coordinators to Program Advising.
That division is what makes our work with you effective. You stay in control of whom you accept and what you file, and Graceland's review receives a clean, complete file. The placement process shows where each decision sits.

Who will I work with?
Your placement advisor, who handles your search from your first message through to the approval emails, with the rest of the placement desk behind them. You will always know who is working on your practicum, what stage it has reached and what Graceland is waiting on next.
Which Graceland programs do you support?
The MSN FNP, AGACNP and PMHNP tracks, the matching post-graduate certificates and the NP practicums in the BSN-to-DNP. Students in the post-master's DNP or the online RN-BSN and RN-to-MSN are welcome to ask as well; for those programs we start from what your course and your track coordinator require.
How do you keep up with Graceland's rules?
We work from Graceland's own published sources: the current Graduate Student Handbook (Version 2026, with the September 10, 2026 updates), the graduate catalog and the School of Nursing's web pages. Where those sources disagree, as they do on a few hour counts and dates, we say so and point you to your track coordinator or the current handbook.
Can preceptors contact you directly?
Yes. Nurse practitioners and physicians interested in precepting a Graceland student can reach the placement desk through the form; choose “I'm a preceptor (not a student)” as the program. We will explain what Graceland asks of its preceptors and how a term with a student is organized.
