What to put in your message
Name, contact details, program, start and city go in the form fields. Your message is where the search takes shape, so use it for the details that change who we approach first.
- The practicum course and term, for example

- Whether you need a primary preceptor, a second preceptor or a new site after a change
- Any clinicians or practices you have asked already, with their answers
- Settings that suit the course, such as a family practice that sees plenty of children for
NURS6740 - Your commuting limit and the weekdays you could spend in clinic
- Where your Castle Branch items stand, and your paperwork deadline
If you have a preceptor in mind but the site has no contract with Graceland yet, or the site runs its own student request system, say so. Either one changes the order in which we work.
What happens after you send it
- A placement advisor reads your detailsWe check your track's practicum rules and confirm which Graceland deadline applies: June 15, October 15 or February 15.

- The search runsWe approach preceptors who fit your course, close to home in your approved state, and check each one against Graceland's rules.

- Graceland's steps followYou file Appendix A, your preceptor completes Appendix B, and the contract coordinators carry it through to approval.
Graceland approves every preceptor and site and signs every affiliation agreement. Our part is to hand you a request that is complete and matches Graceland's rules before it goes in. How it works lays out the full sequence, step by step.
If your deadline is close
Put the date in the first line of your message. “Spring 2027 paperwork due October 15” tells us more than any other sentence you could write, and it sets the pace of the whole search.
If you are inside the last two weeks before a deadline, email Graceland's contract coordinators as well; the handbook asks students with no site to say so two weeks ahead, which leaves room for help or more time. For preceptors and practices
If you are a nurse practitioner or physician considering a Graceland student, pick the preceptor option at the end of the program menu and describe your specialty, where you practice and which terms could work. Practice managers speaking for several clinicians are welcome to write the same way.
We answer questions about Graceland's expectations, the Appendix B application and the midterm and final evaluations you would complete in Typhon. We can also send the School of Nursing's single-page handout for prospective preceptors, which describes what Graceland expects of them. Questions Graceland students ask
When is the right time to reach out before a practicum?
As early as you can. Graceland's handbook tells students that preparation can begin a year or more before a first practicum, and its paperwork deadline falls about ten weeks before a Fall term. Writing to us a term or two ahead gives the search and the site contract the most room.
Can I contact you if I already have a preceptor?
Yes. We help with a second preceptor for Graceland's two-preceptor rule, a site for your final practicum, or getting the Appendix A and Appendix B details in order for a preceptor you found yourself. Tell us what you have and what is still missing.
Do you help DNP students with practice sites?
Yes. Graceland says DNP practice hours happen in your home community with a practice mentor and practice site, and your project proposal is approved by your faculty advisor, practice mentor, practice site and the institutional review board. Tell us your project area and location, and choose the DNP option in the program list.
Can you help if I live outside Missouri and Iowa?
Yes. Graceland's online students live across the country, and we search in the approved state where you live and will complete your practicum. Your RN license must be unencumbered there, so confirm with Graceland that your state is approved first. See the state guides.
How will you reply to my message?
Your advisor answers by email, phone call or text message, using whichever details you entered in the form. Use the email address you check most often, whether that is your Sting account or a personal one, and tell us in the message box if one channel suits you better.
