Graceland University practicum deadlines, term by term
Graceland University fixes one paperwork date per term: both appendices and your Castle Branch record are due by June 15 ahead of Fall practicums, by October 15 ahead of Spring and by February 15 ahead of Summer. Students weighing NPHub face an earlier date for its option form. Two conflicts inside Graceland's own documents affect planning, and both are set out below.

The three paperwork deadlines
Graceland's deadline table, marked as updated on September 10, 2026, gives a single cutoff each term for everything the contract coordinators need: your Appendix A, the Appendix B your preceptor files, and your Castle Branch record. The same three dates appear in the 2023 and 2025 handbooks, so they make a steady anchor for planning.

The paperwork date lands about ten weeks before a Fall start and about eleven before a Spring or Summer start. The progress-email column is Graceland's own: by each deadline, the coordinators send students their first update on where the file stands.
Two conflicts to plan around
The Fall option form date. The deadline table gives April 1 for the NPHub option form ahead of a Fall term, while the sample form in Attachment D of the same handbook says May 1. Spring (August 1) and Summer (January 1) agree in both places. Plan on the earlier date and confirm with the contract coordinators or your track coordinator.
The Summer start. The table says Summer starts “In April,” but Graceland's academic calendar opens Summer on May 4, 2026 and May 3, 2027, and the handbook's own sample approval email names a Summer term starting 5/4/2026. The February 15 paperwork date is the same either way; the difference matters when you count back for the drug screen.
Whenever two Graceland sources disagree, the current handbook and your track coordinator have the final word.
The Fall option form appears as April 1 in one part of the handbook and May 1 in another. Work to April 1 until Graceland tells you otherwise.
Why early submissions wait
Submitting months ahead does not put you at the front of the line. Graceland leaves early paperwork unprocessed until the term before the scheduled practicum and sends no reply in the meantime, so a Fall packet is read during the Summer term, not in March.
That is no reason to start late. The handbook's advice is that some students begin a full year or longer ahead of their first practicum, because contracts with preceptors and sites are slow to finalize. The early work is the search itself: securing a preceptor who fits the course, confirming each address and clearing any application window a hospital runs on its own calendar.

The two-week notice and other cutoffs
Several of Graceland's other dates hang off the paperwork deadline or the term start. Put them in your calendar at the same time.
- Two weeks before the deadline (June 1, October 1 or February 1): tell the coordinators if you have no practicum site set, so they can help or discuss an extension
- Two weeks before the term starts: Graceland stops accepting requests to add a second preceptor for that term
- Six to four weeks ahead of your first practicum: the Castle Branch drug test, ordered by the paperwork deadline but taken inside that window
- Close of your first term: background check finished through Castle Branch
- January 31: the latest date for the season's influenza vaccine in your record

Working backward from the next three terms
Here is how those rules translate into dates for the terms students are planning now. The drug test window applies only before your first practicum.

As of late September 2026, the Spring 2027 deadline is about three weeks away. If you have no site for January, October 1 is the date to act on now, and need a preceptor fast walks through a short runway.
NPHub dates, if you are weighing Graceland's partner
Graceland's optional paid partner runs on its own calendar. Under the process the handbook describes, every student signs a yes-or-no option form during their first year, and the table sets the form's due dates: April 1 for Fall (May 1 in Attachment D), August 1 for Spring and January 1 for Summer. The handbook also says that for the greatest chance of placement, students should confirm NPHub at least five months ahead of the practicum's term.

Missing a deadline, and how we help you meet it
Late paperwork can delay your practicum. Graceland's remedy is early contact, two weeks ahead of the cutoff, when the coordinators may help or allow more time; failing that, you rearrange your completion plan with Program Advising and take a different course that term, which moves your finish date. Graceland estimates that each term sat out pushes graduation back about four months, as the delayed graduation page explains.

Questions Graceland students ask
When is the Graceland practicum paperwork deadline for Spring 2027?
October 15, 2026. Both appendices and your Castle Branch record are due that day for a Spring term that opens January 4, 2027. With no site in place, Graceland wants to hear from you two weeks sooner, by about October 1, at soncontracts@graceland.edu.
Can I submit Appendix A early to get ahead?
You can, but it will sit untouched until the term before your practicum, and Graceland does not acknowledge early packets. Spend the extra time confirming your preceptor, each site address and any hospital application window instead, so the packet is complete when the processing window opens.
What happens if I miss the June 15 deadline?
Your Fall practicum may be delayed. Graceland asks for contact by June 1, two weeks ahead, so the coordinators can help or talk through an extension. Without that, you may take a different course that term and adjust your completion plan with Program Advising, which extends your finish date.
Is the Fall NPHub option form due April 1 or May 1?
Both dates appear in the 2026 handbook: the deadline table says April 1, and the sample form in Attachment D says May 1. Plan on April 1 and confirm the current date with the contract coordinators or your track coordinator before you rely on the later one.
When should I take the Castle Branch drug test?
In the window between six and four weeks ahead of your first practicum's start. For a first practicum in Spring 2027, which opens January 4, that works out to roughly November 23 to December 7, 2026. Order the package by the paperwork deadline and use only Castle Branch's designated laboratory.
