It starts from your Graceland course
Graceland's setting rules are specific, and a good service screens against them before a preceptor is ever asked. For FNP students, NURS6740 and NURS6760 happen in primary care and nowhere else, and NURS6830 must be at least half primary care, with specialty hours capped at 150. AGACNP practicums sit in hospitals or specialist offices, never urgent care, minute clinics or primary care offices, and NURS5450 divides into 150 or more hours under an internist or hospitalist and 75 or more under a pulmonologist. On the PMHNP track, only psychiatrists and certified PMHNPs may precept.
Credentials matter as much as setting. Graceland looks for master's-prepared NPs with APRN experience or physicians holding board certification or eligibility, and it turns away physician assistants for every practicum hour. A service that knows these lines spares you a yes that Graceland cannot approve. The preceptor requirements page lists them in full.
It hands you a complete file for Appendix A and Appendix B
Appendix A, which you submit online through myGraceland, gives Graceland the site, every address you will work at and what it needs to check for or send an affiliation agreement. Appendix B, which the preceptor completes, covers license, credentials and experience, plus a unique email address for the preceptor's Typhon account. Gaps and mismatches in those details are what slow a file down.
The best service gathers all of it before you file: the site's legal name, each practice address, the person who signs contracts, the preceptor's license and certification. It also flags any site that uses its own student request software, which Graceland asks you to report to the contract coordinator. That is the difference between an agreement the coordinator can send at once and one that waits on missing details. See Appendix A and Appendix B.
It works to Graceland's calendar
Graceland's calendar has three paperwork dates, one per term: June 15 (Fall), October 15 (Spring) and February 15 (Summer), and anything sent before the term preceding the practicum waits. A good service counts back from your date, leaves room for a new site contract and knows the two-week rules in the handbook: a student still without a site should flag it no later than two weeks before the deadline, and no request for an extra second preceptor is accepted inside the last two weeks before a term.
It plans the practicum weeks too: 16-24 hours a week in clinic, hours wrapped up by week 14 as faculty request, and clinic days that leave room for your focus session, which the handbook puts around week 6 or 7 on Zoom for FNP and PMHNP students, and around week 11 or 12 on the Independence campus for AGACNP students.
It plans all three practicums, not only the next one
Across three practicums you need two or more different preceptors, never more than two inside a single practicum, and no one clinician for more than two of the three terms. Graceland also advises logging 120 hours or more under an APRN or nurse practitioner over the whole sequence, which protects your ANCC or AANP certification eligibility. Placing one practicum at a time, without that map, can leave the last one short.
Order matters as well. The FNP Family practicum, NURS6830, always comes last, and the PMHNP practicums run in a fixed sequence. A strong plan settles who precepts which practicum before the first one begins. The two-preceptor rule explains the counting.
It stays on call when a preceptor steps away
Plans change mid-term. Graceland tolerates one stand-in preceptor for as many as 40 hours at your main site each term with no extra forms; beyond that, the stand-in needs an approved Appendix B. The handbook also discourages dropping a preceptor after the forms have gone in. The best service confirms fit before anything is filed, which keeps cancellations rare, and starts a replacement search at once when a preceptor does leave.

Graceland approves every preceptor and site, signs every affiliation agreement and sends every approval email. You submit Appendix A under your own myGraceland account, keep Castle Branch current and write to the coordinators from your Sting email.
