Graceland University NP practicums in Wyoming
Graceland University's licensure chart marks Wyoming yes for the MSN, in a June 2020 edition that remains the newest, and the row is unusual: it credits the Wyoming Department of Education rather than the nursing board. For practicums, Wyoming asks a post-licensure program like Graceland's for little beyond a written heads-up and a signed contract with each site. Graceland's Wyoming row, and the agency it names
Graceland's four licensure charts date from June 2020, and no later edition exists. Wyoming is one of 32 states where the MSN column reads Yes, and because the chart lumps every MSN option together, that yes covers them all. Where most yes rows cite a nursing board, Wyoming's says the MSN "is approved by and follows the reporting requirements of the Wyoming Department of Education."

Wyoming's notice-and-contract rule
Wyoming's nursing board, in its Chapter 6 rules, splits schools from other states into two lanes. LPN and RN pre-licensure programs must request the board's permission. Post-licensure programs, which the board says include APRN, DNP, MSN and RN-to-BSN, bypass board approval and meet three conditions instead.
- Standing in WyomingThe school holds either Wyoming Department of Education registration or NC-SARA approval. Graceland's chart cites the first, and Graceland joined NC-SARA in February 2016, renewing each February.
- A letter to the boardThe school tells the board in writing whenever a student will have a clinical learning experience in Wyoming; the board offers a sample cover letter for it.
- A contract before day oneThe school signs a written contract with the clinical facility before clinicals start and holds a copy on file should the board ask.
All three sit with the school, and the third mirrors Graceland's own rule that an affiliation agreement is signed before any clinical activity. Ask the contract coordinators whether Wyoming's letter has gone out for your term.
Preceptors and places across a spread-out state
AANP puts Wyoming among its full practice states. Cheyenne, the biggest metro, counted roughly 103,000 people in the 2025 estimates; Casper came in near 81,000 and the Gillette micro area near 48,000. With towns that size, many students weigh a long drive against the right preceptor.
The capital has Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Casper's Banner Wyoming Medical Center belongs to Banner Health of Arizona, Laramie's Ivinson Memorial Hospital is affiliated with UCHealth, and Gillette and Sheridan each have their own, Campbell County Health and Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Student policies differ at each, and Wyoming records no preceptor incentive.

Your license for Wyoming hours
Graceland's license test has a home half and a site half: your RN license must be unencumbered in the state you live in and in each approved state hosting your hours, confirmed by the board. Wyoming's multistate licensing went live with the compact on January 19, 2018, and Colorado, just south of Cheyenne and Laramie, started the same day, so one multistate license reaches across that line.

Can I take Graceland's online AGACNP while living in Wyoming?
Admission turns on whether Graceland holds approval to offer practicums to Wyoming residents, which the School of Nursing confirms when you ask. AGACNP students should also set aside time for one trip to Graceland's Independence, Missouri campus, where that track's focus session runs two to three days.
Does Wyoming's board need to approve Graceland before my practicum?
No. Graceland's MSN, DNP and RN-BSN count as post-licensure programs, so the board asks for written notice of each student's clinical experience and a signed contract with the facility beforehand. Graceland's affiliation agreement serves as that contract. Both steps belong to Graceland; your part is giving the contract coordinators accurate site details on Appendix A.
Why does Graceland's Wyoming row mention the Department of Education?
Wyoming's board expects any school from another state to hold Department of Education registration there or NC-SARA approval, and Graceland's June 2020 row names the first. Either satisfies that part of the rule. Ask the School of Nursing which of the two covers Wyoming today.
Can I do practicum hours across the line in Colorado or Montana?
For RN practice, a Wyoming multistate license reaches both, since each implemented the compact on the same January 2018 date. The chart answers differ: Colorado is a yes, Montana is unknown. Read the Colorado and Montana guides, and get Graceland's approval for that state before you commit.
