Graceland University's June 2020 licensure chart marks Wisconsin as a state where its MSN meets requirements, and Wisconsin belongs to the Nurse Licensure Compact, so licensing is simple for most nurses. The open question is approval. Wisconsin expects nursing schools based elsewhere to hold its Board of Nursing's approval, and Graceland's Wisconsin row names Utah's board by mistake, so confirm Graceland's current Wisconsin standing before you book a site.

Reading Graceland's Wisconsin row
Graceland has posted nothing newer than its June 2020 charts. Wisconsin's MSN row lists two conditions for approving a school from another state: approval by the nursing board where the school is located, and accreditation by a nursing accreditor the Wisconsin board recognizes. It ends by saying Graceland's MSN programs meet both.
The row opens, though, with "The Utah Board of Nuring", a slip that looks carried over from Utah's entry. The conditions themselves refer to the Wisconsin board, so the intent reads clearly, but a row naming the wrong state is a fair reason to ask Graceland for a current answer instead of leaning on the 2020 text.

Wisconsin's approval rule for schools from other states
Wisconsin puts this requirement in writing. The legal basis is administrative rule N 1.06, and the state's application for schools elsewhere, DSPS Form 3067-OEE in its April 2026 revision, says such schools must win Wisconsin Board of Nursing approval. The form covers every level from LPN programs up to graduate study and names post-licensure bachelor's degrees outright. Schools stay approved by filing a DSPS self-evaluation, Form 3069OEE.

It also says anyone teaching or precepting in a Wisconsin clinical needs either a Wisconsin license or a multistate privilege that reaches Wisconsin.
NP practice under the new APRN law
Wisconsin rewrote its advanced practice licensing in September 2026. Under 2025 Wisconsin Act 17, in effect from the first of that month, DSPS issues APRN licenses across four advanced roles, NPs among them, and every APNP license already issued became an APRN license. Independent practice is its own step, needing a separate application the Board must approve, so AANP's rating stays at reduced practice, with a physician relationship required. Expect the license your preceptor lists on Appendix B to be an APRN license; Graceland's other preceptor standards apply unchanged.
Milwaukee-Waukesha, home to about 1.6 million people, and Madison, at about 710,000, draw most searches, followed by Green Bay and Appleton. Aurora Health Care (an Advocate Health system), UW Health, Ascension Wisconsin, Froedtert ThedaCare Health and Aspirus Health lead the list of large systems. Each keeps its own student process, and none of them is presented as a Graceland site.
Compact licensing and the two borders that differ
Wisconsin has been a compact member since January 19, 2018. A Wisconsin resident's multistate license reaches practicum hours in other compact states, and a multistate license from Iowa or Missouri gives a privilege to practice in Wisconsin. Graceland still wants a board verification of each license in Castle Branch rather than a copy of the card.
Minnesota and Illinois, both on Wisconsin's borders, sit outside the compact. A clinic across the St. Croix in the Twin Cities, or south of the line toward Chicago, needs that state's own license before any hours count. Why does Graceland's Wisconsin chart row mention Utah?
It appears to be a copying slip in the June 2020 chart: the row begins with the Utah board's name, while its two conditions refer to the Wisconsin board. Graceland's conclusion is that its MSN meets Wisconsin's conditions. Given the error and the chart's age, ask the School of Nursing to confirm its current Wisconsin status.
Does the Wisconsin approval rule cover the DNP and RN-BSN too?
Form 3067-OEE reads broadly, naming RN programs at the associate, bachelor's (post-licensure included) and graduate levels. Graceland's DNP and RN-BSN chart rows only say those degrees lead to no new license. Ask Graceland whether its Wisconsin approval covers your program before you plan DNP practice hours or RN-BSN practice experiences in the state.
My preceptor still uses the APNP title. Does Appendix B need anything different?
Check the record first. DSPS moved every existing APNP license over to the new APRN license when the law began in September 2026. Ask your preceptor to look up the current DSPS record before completing Appendix B, so the license the contract coordinators verify matches what the state shows today.
Can I study with Graceland from Milwaukee or Madison?
Graceland's June 2020 chart places Wisconsin in the meets column for the MSN. Enrollment and practicum approval rest on Graceland's current approved-states answer, which it shares only on request, so write to the contact on the School of Nursing page before applying and mention Wisconsin's approval rule when you ask.
