Idaho and Graceland University's nurse practitioner tracks
Graceland University's June 2020 licensure chart, still its newest, answers yes for Idaho in one short line: Idaho "does not define additional requirements needed for licensure." Idaho's rules are just as quiet on out-of-state practicums, with no provision aimed at them, though the board does spell out when an RN in an APRN program may practice as a student. Confirm with the School of Nursing that it currently accepts students from Idaho before you commit.

Idaho's line on the June 2020 chart
Graceland has published nothing newer than its June 2020 charts. Idaho belongs to the chart's yes group for the MSN, a group of 32, and because the chart never separates Graceland's MSN options, the yes reaches every NP specialty, the certificates and the RN-to-MSN path. Few rows on the chart are shorter than Idaho's.

A yes on licensure is not the same as Graceland's approval to enroll you and place practicums in Idaho. The licensure chart guide shows where one question ends and the other starts.
What Idaho law says about student NPs
For student NPs, IDAPA 24.34.01.100.12.a does the work. It lets an RN enrolled (matriculated, in the rule's word) in an APRN program with national accreditation carry out APRN functions that are an integral part of the curriculum, as long as that RN may practice in Idaho through a current Idaho license or a compact privilege. Idaho Code 54-1412 adds a wider carve-out from licensure for students of approved nursing programs doing work incident to their formal instruction.
What Idaho lacks is a rule written for schools from elsewhere. Idaho Code 54-1406 and IDAPA 24.34.01.150 govern programs offered inside Idaho and say nothing specific about out-of-state clinical placements. For schools located elsewhere, the board's out-of-state and online programs section simply points to a licensing email address. That conversation is Graceland's to have; the contract coordinators can tell you whether your site needs anything extra.
Who precepts in Idaho, and where students search
The board's April 10, 2024 education policy, numbered HP-BON-Education 1, reaches preceptors in all nursing programs: none may hold a license below the credential the student is pursuing. Graceland's preceptor rules then add their own conditions on degree, certification and experience.
AANP classes Idaho as a full practice state. NP searches here tend to cluster in the Boise metro first, then Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls. Students most often mention Saint Alphonsus Health System and St. Luke's Health System, and Kootenai Health serves Coeur d'Alene. Each writes its own terms for students, and Idaho shows no preceptor incentive program.
Licenses, and the states next door
Graceland wants your RN license clear at home and wherever an approved practicum site sits, backed by board verification. Idaho's compact participation began on January 19, 2018, the compact's first implementation date, and a multistate RN license from any other participating state is honored here. Idaho has not enacted the APRN Compact.
The neighbors split two ways. Washington joined the implemented compact states on January 31, 2024, and its nursing commission lists which Graceland programs may hold practice experiences there: the family and acute care MSN tracks, the FNP certificate, the DNP and the RN to BSN. PMHNP is missing from that list. Oregon, across the western border, stays outside the compact, so hours there would need an Oregon license. Questions Graceland students ask
Can I enroll in a Graceland NP track from Idaho?
That depends on Graceland's approval to offer practicums in Idaho, which the School of Nursing confirms on request, since no list is published. The chart's June 2020 yes addresses licensure after graduation, a separate matter, so have both answers in hand before you apply.
Which RN license covers my Idaho practicum?
An RN license Idaho recognizes, meaning an Idaho-issued license or a multistate one from a fellow compact state. Idaho's student-APRN rule rests on exactly that, a current license or privilege in Idaho plus enrollment in a nationally accredited APRN program. Graceland also wants verification from the issuing board, not a copy.
Can a PMHNP student from North Idaho do practicum hours in Washington?
Ask before planning it. Washington's commission names several Graceland programs in its approval but leaves out PMHNP, so the School of Nursing has to confirm whether PMHNP hours there are possible. Your RN license would also need to be valid in Washington. The Washington guide covers that approval.
What does Idaho require of a Graceland preceptor?
Idaho's 2024 policy wants your preceptor's license to be at least equal to the one you are working toward. Graceland's own standards add degree, certification and experience rules, and physician assistants never qualify.
