Doing Graceland University practicums in Utah
Utah gets the plainest yes on Graceland University's June 2020 licensure chart: the MSN "will lead to licensure in the state of Utah." Utah also has a detailed written rule for nursing schools based elsewhere, Utah Admin. Code R156-31b-609, which sets conditions before a program places students in Utah facilities and asks for a yearly report. Before you plan, confirm with the School of Nursing that it currently accepts students from Utah.

What the chart says for Utah
Graceland's newest licensure charts carry a June 2020 date. Utah's MSN row is one sentence with no conditions attached, one of 32 yes answers, and it covers the FNP, AGACNP and PMHNP tracks, the RN-to-MSN and the certificates alike. Utah's board also surfaces in an odd place: Graceland's Wisconsin row opens by naming the Utah Board of Nursing, a slip worth knowing if you compare rows.

Utah's rule for programs based elsewhere
Nothing in R156-31b-609 sets graduate students apart, so Graceland's NP tracks sit squarely inside it. A school has to convince both the state's licensing division and its nursing board of four things before its first student begins clinical or practicum work at a Utah facility:
- its home state's nursing board has approved it, and a federally recognized nursing accreditor has accredited it
- its faculty are its own employees, affiliated with a college or university, and meet both the accreditor's and the home state's standards
- any instructor supervising in person holds a sound license from Utah or another compact state
- it has a plan for how faculty or preceptors, and their clinical sites, are chosen and supervised
The school then reports to the board by August 1 each year: how many students trained in Utah facilities, an attestation about face-to-face faculty and preceptor licenses, and proof of current accreditation. These filings are Graceland's; ask the contract coordinators whether Utah is ready for your term.
Preceptors and systems from Ogden to St. George
For an out-of-state school, each preceptor's license must be in good standing and must come from Utah or from one of the Nurse Licensure Compact states. Graceland's preceptor standards apply on top, so a candidate has to clear both, and track rules narrow the field further: AGACNP students need hospital or specialist settings, PMHNP students a psychiatrist or certified PMHNP.
AANP rates Utah as full practice. Most searches run through three neighboring metros, Ogden, Salt Lake City-Murray and Provo-Orem-Lehi, while students in the south look around St. George. University of Utah Health, Intermountain Health and HCA's MountainStar Healthcare are the systems named most often, and every one handles students its own way. Utah has no preceptor incentive on record.
Licenses and the compacts in Utah
Graceland wants your RN license unencumbered where you live and in each approved state hosting practicum hours, and it accepts proof only as a board verification. Multistate licenses have been honored in Utah from the compact's January 19, 2018 start, and one issued by any other participating state is valid for practice in Utah. Nevada, west of St. George, is not a compact state.

Questions Graceland students ask
Can I study Graceland's online FNP from Salt Lake City?
Graceland's June 2020 chart says the MSN leads to licensure in Utah. Enrollment is a separate matter: Graceland accepts NP students from states where it is approved to offer practicum experiences and asks applicants to confirm with the School of Nursing. Ask about Utah before you apply, and read the FNP program page for the practicum sequence.
Does Utah's rule apply to Graceland's graduate programs?
Yes. The rule speaks to every nursing program from outside Utah that sends students into Utah facilities, graduate programs included. Meeting its conditions and filing the August 1 report are Graceland's jobs, though the site and preceptor details you supply feed into them.
Will the AGACNP track take me away from Utah?
Once. The AGACNP focus session fills two to three full days on Graceland's Independence, Missouri campus, and Graceland offers no campus housing, so Utah students plan a flight and lodging. FNP and PMHNP focus sessions meet on Zoom. The focus sessions page has the timing Graceland publishes.
Can I do practicum hours in Idaho or Nevada instead?
Idaho works for RN practice on a multistate license, since it entered the compact the same day as Utah, and Graceland's chart gives Idaho a yes. Nevada sits outside the compact, needs its own RN license and is unknown on Graceland's chart. Read the Idaho and Nevada guides, then get Graceland's approval for the state.
