Graceland University and Michigan: an unknown on the chart
Graceland University's June 2020 licensure chart marks its MSN as unknown for Michigan. The row explains that the program was built for Iowa licensure and is not approved by the Michigan board, so Graceland cannot tell whether it meets Michigan's educational requirements. What the Michigan row actually says
Graceland has posted nothing newer than its June 2020 charts. After noting the MSN's CCNE accreditation, the Michigan row says the program prepares students for Iowa licensure and lacks Michigan board approval, then sends anyone hoping to work in Michigan to the state board before enrolling.

Graceland's FNP page says practicum work can happen anywhere in the U.S., the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, while the School of Nursing takes students only from states where it is approved for practicum experiences. For Michigan, rely on the School of Nursing's current answer.
Michigan rules that shape NP practicums
AANP places Michigan in its restricted category: an NP may prescribe controlled substances only under a physician's delegation. Michigan's NP title is a specialty certification layered on a Michigan RN license, issued only after a certifying organization the Board recognizes has certified the nurse nationally. Check both on any Michigan NP preceptor, alongside Graceland's own standards.
Research found no Michigan Board rule requiring schools elsewhere to seek approval or give notice before clinical placements; the Board's approval rules, R 338.10301 and following, address programs inside Michigan. For licensure, the Board's education page leans on national nursing accreditation (ACEN, CNEA or CCNE) to recognize programs based elsewhere instead of approving them itself. Graceland's own answer stays at unknown, but the point is worth raising with both offices.
Should Graceland confirm Michigan, searches would center on the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn metro's roughly 4.4 million residents, then Grand Rapids, Lansing and Flint, where Trinity Health Michigan, McLaren Health Care, Corewell Health, University of Michigan Health and Henry Ford Health each set their own student process. A state preceptor pilot with Michigan State University has ended and served only MSU students.
An RN license for any Michigan hours
Michigan is not in the Nurse Licensure Compact, though compact legislation (HB 4246) was listed as pending. Until the state joins, any practicum hours in Michigan, if Graceland approves them, need a Michigan RN license, and a multistate license from Ohio, Indiana or Wisconsin stops at the Michigan line. Graceland asks for a board verification for each practicum state.
New applicants for a Michigan RN license face three extras: a criminal background check, one-time training in spotting human trafficking victims, and two hours of implicit bias training completed in the five years before licensure. Allow time for all three. PMHNP students whose telehealth patients sit in Michigan need the license as well, as the telehealth page explains.

The June 2020 chart does not settle it: the MSN is marked unknown for Michigan licensure, and Graceland shares its approved-states list only on request. Email the contact on the School of Nursing page before applying, and ask the Michigan Board of Nursing how it would view the degree for NP licensure.
Is Michigan joining the Nurse Licensure Compact?
Compact legislation, HB 4246, was listed as pending on the compact map used for this guide, but Michigan is not a member. Until it implements the compact, practicum hours inside Michigan require an RN license issued by Michigan, whatever multistate license you carry from elsewhere.
I'm a Graceland DNP student moving to Detroit. Does the unknown affect me?
The unknown sits on the MSN row. Your DNP row says the program is post-licensure and leads to no new license, the same answer every state gets. What matters for you is whether Graceland approves Michigan for DNP practice hours, and holding a Michigan RN license once you live and practice there.
What does a Michigan NP preceptor need beyond Graceland's rules?
Two state credentials: a Michigan RN license and a Michigan NP specialty certification, which the state issues only on top of national certification. A license lookup should show both. The contract coordinators verify each preceptor's license from the Appendix B details before approving anyone.
