Nebraska and your Graceland University practicums
Graceland University's June 2020 licensure chart marks Nebraska yes for the MSN and records that the state asks for nothing beyond national NP education standards. Nebraska's board oversees pre-licensure programs rather than graduate ones, so a Graceland practicum in Omaha, Lincoln or a smaller town moves through Graceland's own approvals with no separate Nebraska permission.

What Graceland's chart says about Nebraska
Nebraska's MSN row reads differently from most. It says the state needs nothing extra, points to NONPF's criteria for evaluating NP programs, asks for proof of a graduate degree that makes you eligible for national certification in your specialty, and says Graceland's MSN meets that bar.

Nebraska's board and graduate clinicals
Nebraska's board signs off on pre-licensure education for Nebraska residents, the programs that end in the NCLEX. According to the state health department, graduate and other post-licensure programs, online or not, sit outside its regulation, so no board approval step applies to a Graceland FNP, AGACNP or PMHNP practicum in the state.
The department also says the school works out preceptors with each clinical facility, and that a post-licensure school decides for itself what a qualified preceptor looks like. For you, that makes Graceland's preceptor requirements the whole test, with the contract coordinators or the course's lead faculty giving the approval.
Full practice after 2,000 hours
The AANP counts Nebraska among the full-practice states, with one condition: a new nurse practitioner works under a supervising provider for the first 2,000 hours. The NPs you approach may be practicing on their own or still finishing that supervised stretch.
Graceland's experience minimum for NP preceptors applies in both cases. When an NP is still in the supervised period, their supervising clinician can be worth meeting as a possible second preceptor, provided Graceland's standards fit.
Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island
Omaha is the state's anchor, with about 887,000 Nebraskans in a metro of just over a million that reaches into Iowa. Lincoln follows at about 352,000, then Grand Island. Nebraska Medicine, Children's Nebraska, CHI Health, Methodist Health System and Bryan Health are the large systems NP students usually look at. Each writes its own student rules, none is an arrangement with Graceland, and a site with its own request portal is one to mention to the contract coordinator before you apply.

Licensing for Nebraska practicums
Nebraska's multistate licenses date to January 19, 2018, and one issued by Nebraska or any other compact state reaches a Nebraska practicum site. Graceland still asks for a board verification for every approved state where your hours happen; see RN license rules.
PMHNP students logging telehealth hours need a license that matches where each patient sits, and a multistate license handles patients in Nebraska and the other compact states. Nebraska has not adopted the APRN Compact, so your NP license after graduation will still be a state-by-state application.

Questions Graceland students ask
Does Nebraska need to approve Graceland for my NP practicum?
No state approval step applies. Nebraska's board limits its program approvals to pre-licensure education, and graduate NP programs like Graceland's sit outside its oversight. Your practicum needs Graceland's approvals instead: the preceptor and site, the affiliation agreement and the approval email, once you have confirmed Nebraska is an approved state for your track.
Does my Graceland instructor need a Nebraska license?
Nebraska's health department follows NCSBN's position that practice happens where the student is, so the faculty member is expected to be licensed there, and for APRN students that means a Nebraska APRN license. Meeting that is Graceland's responsibility rather than yours; your track coordinator can tell you how it is handled for a Nebraska practicum.
Could a newly licensed Nebraska NP serve as my preceptor?
Nebraska grants full practice after 2,000 hours under a supervising provider, but Graceland decides who may precept its students. Its experience minimum for NP preceptors is what counts, and every preceptor is approved by Graceland before hours begin. Ask any candidate how long they have practiced as an NP before you submit Appendix A.
Is Nebraska's APRN board still a separate board?
Possibly not. State rosters through June 2026 listed a Board of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, while the July and September 2026 rosters drop it and show APRN, CNS and CNM seats on the Board of Nursing itself. No law confirming the merger has turned up, so use the DHHS licensure pages for current contacts.
