Oklahoma practicums for Graceland University NP students
Graceland University's MSN meets Oklahoma's requirements according to its June 2020 licensure chart, and Oklahoma allows nurses from APRN programs in other states to train there without a board filing once three conditions are met. NP prescribing there starts under physician supervision, and a state tax credit rewards primary care clinicians who precept APRN students.

Graceland's Oklahoma row
Oklahoma's MSN row turns on national certification rather than state approval, citing NONPF's NP program criteria and declaring that Graceland's MSN qualifies. It even opens with a clipped "raceland," a small slip in a chart never reissued after 2020, so confirm with the School of Nursing that your track is open to Oklahoma residents. Oklahoma's three conditions for out-of-state APRN students
Oklahoma puts your situation in writing. OAC 485:10-5-12(c) lets a registered nurse in an APRN program from another state do clinical hours and preceptorships in the state, skipping any board permission step, provided each of the following is true:
- Your RN license is valid in Oklahoma and carries no encumbrance.
- The program's faculty member in charge of your clinical work is licensed in Oklahoma, without restriction, at the level taught or higher.
- Graceland's program meets Oklahoma's standards for APRN education.
You control the first condition; Graceland controls the other two. Ask your track coordinator, before you settle on an Oklahoma site, whether the faculty license and Oklahoma's education standards are in place. The same rule's stricter prior-permission process is for pre-licensure programs, not Graceland's online graduate tracks.
Restricted practice and what it means for preceptors
The AANP places Oklahoma in its restricted category. Oklahoma ties an NP's prescribing to documented physician supervision for the first 6,240 hours, and NPs there are barred from Schedule II prescriptions. Where a supervising physician works in the practice, ask whether they would act as your second preceptor; Graceland accepts qualifying physicians, as its preceptor requirements page explains.
PMHNP students should ask an NP preceptor how the practice handles Schedule II medications, so you know which parts of medication management you will see. Graceland also accepts psychiatrists as PMHNP preceptors.
Oklahoma's preceptor tax credit
Oklahoma's Preceptor Tax Credit Program comes from a 2024 law, HB 3351, is run by the state's workforce training commission for health care, and is open to MDs, DOs, PAs and APRNs licensed in Oklahoma who deliver primary care there and precept students, APRN students included. Each 160 aggregate hours make one rotation, up to 10 rotations can be claimed in a calendar year, and applications are funded in order of arrival until funding runs out.
The credit cannot be refunded but carries forward five years, it runs through tax year 2035, and the Commission is taking 2026 applications. Physician assistants can earn it, but Graceland never approves a PA as a preceptor.
Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Lawton and Enid
Oklahoma City (about 1.51 million people) and Tulsa (about 1.07 million) are the state's two big metros, with Lawton and Enid far smaller. OU Health, Hillcrest, INTEGRIS Health, SSM Health St. Anthony and Saint Francis are among the large systems NP students tend to try. Their student processes are their own, and none involves Graceland. If a site asks Graceland to use its request software, raise it with the contract coordinator early (see sites with their own request systems).
Licensing for Oklahoma practicums
Oklahoma has been part of the Nurse Licensure Compact since January 19, 2018, and its board treats a multistate license as good across compact states. The clinical rule, though, is worded around an Oklahoma RN license, so a student holding another compact state's multistate license should get the Oklahoma board's confirmation, then add the board verification Graceland requires; see RN license rules.

Does Oklahoma need to approve Graceland before my practicum?
Not through a separate filing. Oklahoma's rule for APRN programs from other states works through three conditions, one about your RN license and two that sit with Graceland. What you still need are Graceland's own sign-offs on your preceptor and site, a signed affiliation agreement and your approval email.
Can an Oklahoma preceptor claim a tax credit for precepting me?
Maybe. Eligibility centers on Oklahoma-licensed clinicians in primary care who precept APRN students, but the program summary is silent on students from programs based outside Oklahoma. Your preceptor should check with the Commission before counting on the credit, and Graceland's approval of the preceptor comes first either way.
Will my Kansas or Missouri multistate license work for an Oklahoma practicum?
Kansas and Missouri both issue multistate licenses, which carry the privilege to practice in Oklahoma, a compact state since January 19, 2018. Oklahoma's clinical rule for out-of-state APRN students is worded around an Oklahoma RN license, though, so ask the Oklahoma board to confirm your multistate license meets it before your first practicum hour.
Does Graceland's Oklahoma chart row cover the PMHNP track?
The chart has a single MSN row, which also covers the RN-to-MSN and the certificates, with no track-by-track entries. PMHNP first appears in Graceland's 2020-21 catalog, so it may postdate the June 2020 chart; ask the School of Nursing about PMHNP in Oklahoma by name.
